To help keep your parrot healthy and happy, you need to know how to care for him / her.

HOUSING-The bigger the cage the better, but there some general guidelines in the cages. For a small parrot, the cage should not be less than 30 "wide by 20" deep by 43 "deep. For more cockatoos (such as umbrella cockatoos), the cage should be no less than 40 "wide by 30" deep by 50 "tall, but no matter the size of the bird, the cage must be strong enough for a cockatoo to hang on when (s) rises around, and can withstand a powerful beak cockatoo. The bars of the cage should not be further away from 1 ".

Equally important to the care of a parrot, it would be toys. Toys should be made of plastic or wood very hard and should be brightly colored, zinc / lead and strong enough to withstand the great force of strong peak of a cockatoo.

The bells are also wonderful toys for cockatoos, but make sure the bell is made of a nontoxic metal. Stainless steel is safe for birds, however, be sure to get a bell for big birds. A safe play gym, whether it is free standing or mounted on top of the cage is sure to bring lots of fun.

The Food is one of the most important things to care for parrots well. A combination of a food grain and fruit and vegetables daily will help ensure a healthy parrot. Cockatoos can even have the meat, but beef and pork should be kept to a minimum, while recommending more chicken and turkey. Cockatoos are not fussy eaters, however, give the cockatoo avocado, chocolate or alcohol in any form. Fried never be given to a cockatoo, nor is salty like potato chips, pretzels with salt and crackers that have been salted. Diary products are safe for a parrot, however, this also should be limited. Dairy products can also cause diarrhea and dehydration from diarrhea.
