Strangely for a bird that tends to have a big tendency to be scared and neurotic, the African Gray possesses the most stable in the world psittacide temperament. As much as it can be more rebellious, when young, more down the line when it reaches maturity whistle becomes calm and thoughtful temperament. In contrast to other parrots, gray does not tend to change their personality or behavior during the mating season, which I think is a very big point in its favor.
